FanDuel Sportsbook Overview
FanDuel Sportsbook is a fantastic option for sports betting with a great app, competitive odds, and the largest number of cash out methods of any US sportsbook. While site reliability has been an issue at times, FanDuel Sportsbook remains a solid option for those wanting to go with a trusted name in the industry.

FanDuel Sportsbook: An All-Around Solid Option
Look.
I get it.
You just want to bet on sports online, right? Me too.
FanDuel brought loads of users (and me) to their platform during the “gold rush” days of daily fantasy sports (DFS). Don’t get me wrong, DFS is fun. But it is not quite the same as placing a good ole’ bet on my Detroit Lions to win the Super Bowl (I do not recommend this strategy).

While daily fantasy sports at FanDuel wet the whistle for many users, the “real thing”, online sports betting, is now finally here. There is no longer the need to use sketchy offshore sports betting sites like Bovada, 5Dimes, etc.
FanDuel Sportsbook is best for you if:
- You are already familiar with FanDuel daily fantasy sports
- You are currently using an offshore betting site and want to bet legally + a reliable payout
- You want a lot of prop bet options
- You want the best deposit and withdrawal methods in the industry
FanDuel Sportsbook is a solid online sportsbook for any sports bettor, but especially for those already using their daily fantasy sports platform.
Top Notch Interface
Desktop and Mobile Web Layouts Give You Device Flexibility
Although it may seem standard in today’s internet, FanDuel offers an exceptional layout on all devices: desktop, mobile web, tablet, and app.
Desktop and Tablet: Can you spot the difference?
The FanDuel Sportsbook home page opens with the most popular bets of the day. Tabs are also available for Live, Upcoming, and occasionally a special tab depending on the season (like Playoffs, pictured below).
Current promotions are scrolling across the top of the page. Be sure to keep an eye on these as FanDuel regularly offers promotions on some of the most popular events.
I personally enjoy the halftime and OT insurance they tend to offer on certain leagues.
You are able to access the “classic” bet types (spread, moneyline, total) for each matchup on the main page.
Clicking into each matchup will show all of the other bet types available. Most notably, team and player prop bets. As you can see below, FanDuel offers a massive list of prop bets for each game. Chances are, if you want to bet on something, FanDuel is offering it.
To place a bet, simply click on the type of bet you would like to make. Once you have made a selection, this bet will move to your Bet Slip, shown on the right side of the screen.
Once you have your wager in your Bet Slip, you can enter the amount in two different spots: To Win or Wager. FanDuel will automatically calculate the proper amount depending on where you enter your bet.
For example, if you wanted to bet $10 on the New England Patriots to win at +142, then “To Win” would automatically populate with $14.20.
If you have multiple wagers in the Bet Slip, you have a few more betting options:
- Parlay
- Teaser
- Round Robin
You can delete individual bets by clicking on the trash can icon next to the matchup, or you can click on the trash can icon at the bottom of your bet slip to delete all of your bets.
But where you will be spending most of your time is...
On the app! Let’s be honest:
It’s a mobile app world these days.
If a company doesn’t have a great user experience on their app, you will probably leave.
Luckily the FanDuel Sportsbook gets solid reviews from users with just a few complaints. Amongst online sportsbooks, FanDuel consistently rates as one of the best apps on the market.
The same cannot be said for many of its’ competitors. One major benefit of using FanDuel is that they allow wagering on the web. Many of their competitors require you to bet on an app and are therefore mobile only.

Being an “app first” company has served FanDuel well here. You can have basically the same experience across all devices.
Live Betting functions very similarly to pre-game betting. The main difference is that the odds will change as the game progresses (which is what makes it so fun!).
You can see which lines are changing based on the color of the odds. Red means odds are getting worse and green means odds are getting better (see screenshot below). The top of the page will show the live score along with other relevant statistics.
Because odds change constantly in Live Betting, FanDuel gives you the opportunity to review line changes before you submit a bet.
FanDuel Site Stability is the Only Obvious Negative
One of FanDuel’s biggest drawbacks to date is the stability of their platform. The site and app have gone down numerous times over the past few months, typically when they are receiving a lot of traffic.
The FanDuel Customer Support Twitter account provides updates any time there are issues. For example:
Hey everyone, our engineers are aware of the site issues some users are experiencing right now. We know this is frustrating. We'll keep you in the loop and let you know as soon as the issue is solved.
— FD Customer Support (@FanDuel_Support) January 20, 2019
Many users have reported issues specifically with the app. I have also been frustrated at times with the app’s performance.
Because the sportsbook app is still very new, I’m confident a company the size of FanDuel will be able to work out the kinks.
Easy Sign Up Process for Existing DFS Users
Syncing Your FanDuel DFS Account
Since FanDuel is a giant in the DFS space, many users already have accounts there. Luckily, FanDuel allows you to sync your existing account with a new FanDuel Sportsbook account.
Unfortunately, FanDuel Sportsbook does not currently have the ability to transfer funds to/from their DFS accounts. Adding this option would be a nice feature for their customers.
Why does FanDuel need my Social Security number?
FanDuel Sportsbook App Offers a Great User Experience... When It Works
FanDuel Sportsbook App Review
- Great interface
- Poor stability/buggy
The FanDuel Sportsbook iOS app has a great foundation, it just needs to clean up some of the bugs many users have reported.
The FanDuel Sportsbook Android app isn’t available in the Google Play store due to Google policies. Download link and instructions can be found below:
The look and feel of the app is nearly identical to the web interface. This makes betting from any device a breeze.
As I mentioned earlier, the app’s stability has had some issues at times. Users have reported that the app tends to freeze, making it difficult to place wagers. This especially becomes a problem for live betting.
While this isn’t ideal, it is worth keeping in mind that the app is still very new. As more states legalize sports betting, I expect the app to receive more development attention.
FanDuel has solid odds - but not the BEST
When it comes to odds among legal online sportsbooks, FanDuel is competitive. They definitely cater to the more casual bettor that isn’t concerned with getting the best line out there.
Just because FanDuel doesn’t have the best odds doesn’t mean they aren’t worth using. There is something to be said for the convenience of using FanDuel given so many people are familiar with their daily fantasy sports platform.
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds - where do they rank?
As you can see below, FanDuel is about the middle of the pack when it comes to the approximate margin they are making on moneyline bets. I took down nearly a thousand data points and charted which books have the lowest moneyline margins:

FanDuel Sportsbook Prop Bet Offerings

FanDuel Sportsbook Promo Code: What You Need to Know
FanDuel is currently only offering one promotion for new users – up to a $500 site credit if you lose your first bet. There are no special promo codes needed in order to get this bonus – it is available to all users.
FanDuel does offer a few other promotional features that can spice up your day to day betting:
Cash Out Option
Insurance
FanDuel will also offer “insurance” on bets if you lose a certain way. The most common example is OT and parlay insurance.
For example, if you place a bet on the New York Rangers and they lose in OT, FanDuel will give you a site credit (usually up to $25). Sometimes they offer this as a refund, which is a much better deal for you.

FanDuel has the best deposit and withdrawal options in the industry
